Tour Overview

Day 1

Tirana – Vineyard – Medieval village – Kruja

Our professional tour guide will pick you up at your hotel in Tirana at 10:00 am. We have a short drive towards the hilly side of Western Albania. Our first stop will be at one of the best wineries in Albania. Located on the top of the hills, next to a lake with an astonishing view of Adriatic Sea, these vineyards offer one of the most unique landscapes of Albania. The influence of the sun and the Mediterranean Sea make this land a privileged place for the cultivation of grapes. We invite you to enjoy the sun and discover the special wines of this vineyard. Our experience includes wine yards’ tour, wine production and preservation process, wine, Raki and olive oil tasting. After this unforgettable experience our tour continues through a medieval village of the area. We will stop by the castle of the village, visit ruins of communist buildings and stop by an old mosque. Driving downhill on a sneaky road, we will arrive in an Agro-tourism of the area, where we will have delicious traditional lunch. Our next destination will be Kruja, a historical city symbol of the Albanian resistance against the expansion of Ottoman Empire. Walking through Kruja’s Medieval Old Bazaar (one of the biggest and oldest in Balkans) gives you a sense of a passage through the history. In the evening, we will learn how to cook an Albanian traditional dish of this area. This unique experience will be held within a traditional guesthouse in the castle of Kruja where we learn how to cook and enjoy Albanian traditional dishes. Overnight in Kruja.
Day 2

Kruja – Vain Lagoon – Agro–tourism farm

After breakfast our journey continues up north towards Vain Lagoon. This lagoon lays on the shores of the Adriatic Sea where Drini River (Albania’s longest and biggest river) meets the sea. This lagoon is home to a wide variety of fishes and wild birds, all living freely in their natural habitat. We will visit a local fisherman’s restaurant where you will experience their old methods of catching fish with their nets on the river. You will be able to taste the same fish you saw being caught a few minutes earlier. Our next destination is one of the best agro-tourism farms in the Balkans. We will have a tour around the farm, learn more about the story of this farm and how it created jobs for more than 400 people in the region. The farm collects, elaborates and preserves regional fresh local products. We will also learn how this family business adopted some old communist buildings to serve as storage for local bio products. In the evening we will enjoy the magnificent sunset offering a spectacular view of the hilly landscapes surrounding the farm. You will taste a unique gastronomic adventure of slow foods that combine grand mothers’ recipes with the chef’s modern touch. While enjoying a wide variety of delicious food, we will learn about the history, culture, and food offerings that makes the region so unique from the rest of Albania. Overnight in the farm.
Day 3

Agro–tourism farm – Winery near Tirana – Tirana

There is no better feeling than waking up by the sounds of the animals in the farm. After breakfast we continue our journey towards Tirana, but our tour is not over yet. We will stop at a winery near Tirana. Here we will explore the farm and learn about its story. The uniqueness of this farm is that they use an Albanian autochthon grape to produce a special variety of wine. Part of our tour is a visit to the winery, walking through the vineyards and tasting the unique flavours of their wines. After lunch, we drive back to Tirana which marks the end of this amazing experience.
