Welcome to Ljubljana! Upon your arrival in the charming capital of Slovenia, make your way to the hotel, which has already been booked for you by Choose Balkans. You will be welcomed by the hotel staff, who will assist you with the check-in process. After settling in and freshening up, take the rest of the day to explore Ljubljana at your own pace. Stroll through the picturesque old town, admire the blend of Baroque and modern architecture, and enjoy the lively riverside cafés. In the evening, relax with a drink by the Ljubljanica River and soak in the cozy atmosphere of this green and walkable city. Overnight in Ljubljana.
Today we will visit Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. This enchanting city is a perfect blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. We will visit the old town center where we will admire the bridges, parks, and squares designed by the famous Slovene architect, Joze Plecnik. In the city's center, atop a hill, we can admire the medieval Ljubljana Castle, which boasts architectural accents from the Romanesque, Gothic, and Renaissance period. We will continue our journey towards Tromostovje, the iconic trio of bridges which symbolize unity between the historical, medieval, and modern parts of the city. As we cross the bridges, take in the views of the charming riverside and the lively atmosphere of the city. Overnight stay in Ljubljana.
After breakfast we enjoy a scenic drive to Lake Bled, a picturesque alpine lake surrounded by mountains. Lake Bled is often mentioned as the pearl of the Slovenian Alpine region due to its emerald-green waters, picture-perfect postcard church on the island, medieval castle on the rocky cliff, and some of the highest peaks of the Slovenian Alps as the background. Take a short walk along the lakeshore as the beauty of the surrounding mountains reflects off the lake surface.
In the afternoon, we continue deeper into the heart of Triglav National Park, arriving at Lake Bohinj, Slovenia’s largest permanent glacial lake and one of its best-kept secrets. Nestled in a pristine valley and framed by dramatic alpine cliffs, Lake Bohinj offers a wilder and more tranquil atmosphere compared to Bled.
After a full day immersed in alpine beauty, we will return back to Ljubljana. Overnight in Ljubljana.
Today we leave Ljubljana behind and head southwest to explore some of Slovenia’s most iconic natural and historical landmarks. Our first stop is the Postojna Cave, one of the largest and most captivating cave systems in Europe. This 24-kilometer-long karst cave is an underground wonderland, fantastically shaped rock formations.
After our cave discovery adventures, we drive towards Trieste, a charming city located in northeastern Italy. Trieste has a unique cultural identity due to its historical position at the crossroads of Italian, Slavic, and Germanic influences. This is reflected in its architecture, cuisine, and traditions. Our first stop will be Piazza Unità d'Italia, the main square. The square is surrounded by stunning architecture, elegant cafes, and historic buildings. We will wander through the charming streets of the Old Town, where we will explore the Cathedral of San Giusto and the Castle of San Giusto for a glimpse into Trieste's history. We will walk towards Piazza della Borsa, a historic square dominated by the beautiful Old Stock Exchange building. The piazza was the trade center of the city throughout the 19th century. As we leave Italy behind, enjoy the scenic coastal drive along the Adriatic as we cross into Slovenia, arriving in the charming port town of Koper. We will stroll through the atmospheric old town, where Venetian architecture meets Slovenian culture. We will visit Tito Square, pass by the impressive Praetorian Palace, and explore the lively waterfront promenade. Have some free time to enjoy a relaxed coffee or gelato in one of the local cafés before continuing our journey towards Croatia. We will make our way to the stunning Istrian coast, arriving in the charming town of Rovinj.
Rovinj, once a Venetian fishing port, is a true jewel of the Adriatic. With its cobbled alleys, pastel-colored houses, and hilltop church, it feels like stepping into a romantic postcard. Overnight near Rovinj
After breakfast in Rovinj, we begin the day with a short scenic drive to Pula, the largest city in the Istrian Peninsula, famous for its remarkably preserved Roman architecture. In Pula, we will pass by the magnificent Pula Arena, one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheaters in the world. You will have some free time to wander through the city’s charming old town.
After we will drive toward one of Croatia’s most celebrated natural wonders, Plitvice Lakes National Park. Along the way, enjoy the changing landscapes as we leave the Adriatic coast behind and head into the lush, forested hills. Tomorrow, we’ll dedicate the full day to exploring this UNESCO-listed paradise of turquoise lakes and cascading waterfalls. Overnight near Plitvice Lakes National Park.
We will begin the day with a visit to one of the most breathtaking natural wonders in Europe, Plitvice Lakes National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a lush paradise of 16 terraced lakes connected by waterfalls. We will spend the morning exploring the park’s walking trails, scenic viewpoints, and cascading falls. You will witness crystal-clear turquoise waters, diverse wildlife, and an atmosphere of pure tranquility. After soaking in the nature’s splendor, we will continue our journey toward the Dalmatian Coast.
Our next stop will be Split, known for its Roman architecture, bustling markets, and coastal charm. Split offers an incredible mix of experiences. We will visit Croatia’s most famous landmarks, the Diocletian’s Palace. Built by Roman Emperor Diocletian in the 4th century, the palace is an architectural marvel and a testament to Roman engineering. After exploring the palace, we will walk through the maze of narrow streets of the Old Town. We will wander through the Pazar Market, where locals sell fresh produce, herbs, and crafts. This bustling market is a great place to experience the vibrant atmosphere of Split and interact with the locals.
Take a peaceful walk along the coast and enjoy the Mediterranean sunset. In the afternoon we will drive towards Dalmatian Coast. Say a fond farewell to your tour leader, who has guided you through an unforgettable journey across Slovenia, Italy and Croatia. Tomorrow, you will be transferred to Dubrovnik by our local representative / driver. Overnight near the Dalmatian Riviera.
This is the last day of this adventure marking the end of this amazing experience through the rich history and culture of this part of the World. Our local representative / driver will shuttle you the nearest point of your hotel within Dubrovnik Town (Please note that cars may not enter some parts of Dubrovnik Town) .
